Praise for Dr. Brown and The Six Questions Approach

The Six Questions by Dr. Jack Brown truly is a guide to swimming fast. Our athletes and staff have enjoyed using this program as a foundation for performance. We as coaches are better equipped to guide the goal setting process, and our athletes have a road map to navigate on the journey to success.

“Dr. Brown has really made a positive impact on my daughter’s life! He has empowered her to reconnect with the joy of swimming and helped her find new purpose – a new lens with which to view practices and competitions.

We have been working with Dr. Brown for several months now, and he has helped my daughter to bridge the mental gap between where she was and where she wanted to go. He empowered her to identify patterns of thought that were not helpful in reaching her goals. He also worked with her to develop her awareness and self-knowledge using mental tools and strategies that she now deploys in practice and in meets. It has been amazing to watch her transformation as she reframes her outlook and has started to understand her own power to make positive changes.

These are skills that my daughter will use as swimmer, but that will also translate to the rest of her life. I am so thankful for Dr. Brown for helping her in her journey as an athlete and an individual.”

“My son swims for NCAC under the best Age Group coach in the country and with the nicest and most friendly group of boys.   He had moved teams a couple of times during his tweens and in spite of truly thriving on NCAC, he lost his sense of mission after independently researching how difficult it is to get a college scholarship in swimming.  We were driving to practice on a Monday evening before a meet weekend. and told me he wanted to quit.  He was very nervous about the upcoming meet and  was dreading the next few sleepless nights.  He was swimming on a team of superstars and he felt average among them.  He wondered if it was all worth it.  He would not talk to  me about it as I am too overzealous and he did not want to disappoint his coach whom he deeply respects.   So I sat in my car for five minutes and compiled a message to Jack requesting a few sessions.   My son was so excited when Jack told him about his experiences in the Olympic Trials.

After just two months with Jack, my son no longer loses sleep fretting about races and is even calm behind the blocks.  He loves swimming again and talks about his friends and practices in a positive way.  He has not suggested quitting again and seems comfortable with the idea of continued commitment through the end of high school and beyond!  He even told me after meeting with Jack last week that 1) he can not believe how much he has improved under his coach this year and 2) he can not wait until his 2024 Short Course Championship meet!  What a delightful turnaround!”

“My daughter had a few challenges this year with nutrition, sleep, and time management.  After just one month of meetings with Jack, she is more intentional in her daily choices.   She is eating three meals a day and trying to set priorities so she doesn’t spread herself too thin.  She has good practices because she is getting good sleep snd calories.

Both my kids enjoy their talks with Jack.  He is young, energetic, highly accomplished both in the sport snd the academic world so both respect him and they find the exercises they work through with him interesting.  Im already seeing them level up their mental game.”
